Who are you?

I’m TJ Lockett, also known as DJ Lock, and I’ve been spinning for 15 years. My style as a DJ is all about creating a vibe—eclectic, fun, and memorable. I’m always looking for new ways to elevate my craft, constantly challenging myself to try fresh approaches to familiar spaces. Whether it’s throwing in a few unexpected “curveball” tracks to keep things interesting or expanding my knowledge of music both old and new, I thrive on growth and creativity.

What's your DJ philosophy?

For me, flexibility and spontaneity are everything. While I might prepare the first few tracks for an event, I rely on my ability to read the crowd and let the energy of the room guide my set. As a coach and mentor, I’ve embraced the idea that growth happens outside of your comfort zone, and I bring that mindset to my DJing. I love stepping off the beaten path, trying new things, and finding those sweet spots where the unexpected creates unforgettable moments. Music is all about connection and shared growth, and I aim to make that an integral part of my identity as an entertainer.

What do you contribute to Spin Society?

I bring preparation, creativity, and a deep sense of professionalism to every event I’m part of. Whether I’m digging into genres, artists, or specific styles for a private event or drawing on my years of experience, I do the homework to make sure I’m ready to deliver. My approach sets me apart because I challenge myself to get uncomfortable and experiment, all while staying focused on creating smooth blends and high-energy moments. My goal is to make every person in the crowd feel special, creating individual moments that bring everyone together and make the event truly unforgettable.
