Who are you?

My name is Merissa Umstead but behind the DJ booth I go by Rico Steez. I have always been a music lover & that’s what got me started performing in 2011. After starting my career in nightlife, I wanted to challenge my skill set and build my playlist with an open format style at private events. 

 

What's your DJ philosophy?

I believe as a DJ it’s not just about studying the music but also studying how people respond to it. You need to have an open mind and be knowledgeable of different music. For me, it’s all about mood, a feel-good atmosphere, and playing those tracks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realizing it, regardless of genre, tempo, style, or release date.

 

What do you contribute to Spin Society?

 My contributions to the team would be knowledge of music, customer service, and entertainment. Being attentive to my clients and making sure their music needs are covered. You will enjoy my unique sound, creative transitions, and crowd reading to keep any event entertained.
